Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Liberty League announced Monday that five Skidmore student-athletes earned weekly honors for last week’s performances.
Field hockey senior Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) earned Co-Offensive performer off the week while women’s soccer sophomore Meghan Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) earned Co-Defenisve Performer of the Week and volleyball senior Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, N.J.) was named Co-Performer of the Week. Swimming and diving had two recipients, senior Sonia Segal-Smith receiving women’s Co-Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Doug Pilawa (Chardon, Ohio) picking up men’s Diver of the Week.
Britt scored three goals and had an assist in Skidmore’s 5-1 victory over Utica that clinched the top seed for the Thoroughbreds in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament. Britt’s seven-point effort Saturday gave her 103 for her career, becoming just the 10th player in Skidmore history to surpass the 100-point mark. The 11th ranked Thoroughbreds host Union College in the Liberty League Semifinal at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4.
Sleezer recorded a season-high 19 saves in a 1-1 2OT tie against nationally-ranked Ithaca College. Skidmore is now 11-3-3 and will host Hamilton College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round of the Liberty League playoffs.
Dinsdale helped the Thoroughbreds to a 2-2 record at the Skidmore Invitational Tournament. She earned All-Tournament honors after averaging 30.25 digs over the four matches. Volleyball will travel to Vassar College this weekend for the Liberty League Tournament.
Segal-Smith had three wins in this weekend’s victory over Potsdam. She took first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.55), the 500 free (5:42.54), and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.06) for the Thoroughbreds.
Pilawa took first in the 3-meter diving event with an NCAA qualifying score of 286.00. He also finished second in the 1-meter. Swimming and diving will host Vassar College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
