Whitney Point, N.Y.--The Skidmore College women's varsity eight finished fourth in the Grand Final of the N.Y. State Championships at Whitney Point.
The Thorouhgbreds, ranked 14th nationally and fourth in the NY Region, finished in 7:09.39, just ahead of 11th ranked William Smith (7:09.56). Ithaca was first in 6:59.91, followed by St. Lawrence (7:05.51), and Rochester (7:07.21). Hamilton was sixth (7:11.14).
The Liberty League results were pulled from the Grand Final times. St. Lawrence finishes first, finishing an impressive second over William Smtih.
The Skidmore's eight consists of Elissa Nadworny (cox), Kacey Light, Meg Weagley, Alicea Cock-Esteb, Leila Wendler, Danni Van Devoorde, Carol Simonson, Korena Burgio, and Martha Valentine.
The women's second varsity eight was fourth and the women's novice petite eight was third in the "Petite Final" and ninth overall.
On the men's side, the men's novice eight finished third in the "Petite Final" and ninth overall.
Select boats will compete in next weekend's National Collegiate Invitational in Camden, N.J.
