Troy, N.Y.--The third-seed Clarkson University baseball team came back from a five-run deficit in the fifth inning to beat fourth-seed Skidmore College, 9-7, in Liberty League Tournament play, Saturday at RPI.
With the win the Golden Knights improve to 20-18 overall and advance to game six of the tournament on Sunday.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 22-20 and resume their elmination game with top-seed RPI on Sunday at 8 a.m., leading the Red Hawks 5-1 in the top of the second inning. The winner of that game will need to beat Clarkson twice on Sunday to earn the league's NCAA bid.
Mike Jaffe went 5-5 with three RBI for the Thoroughbreds. Brian Lowry, Zack Brown, and Matt Pisani all had two hits each for Skidmore.
The loss was the first in eight Liberty League tournament games for the Thoroughbreds.
