Saratoga Springs, N.Y.--Hundreds of horses and riders are participating in the 2009 Skidmore Saratoga Classic Horse Show, which started June 10 on Union Avenue across from the Saratoga Race Course. The second and final week of competition is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, June 17-21.
The show, inaugurated in 1927 and brought back to life in 1998, is a highlight of the early summer season in Saratoga Springs. The competition attracts many of the country’s best horses and riders, and benefits scholarships to Skidmore College students.
Organizers hope to raise about $250,000 this year. Since 1998, the Skidmore Classic Horse Show has raised approximately $2 million in scholarship funds for Skidmore students.Click
