Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Liberty League honored six Skidmore student-athletes on Monday for their performances during this past week.
Men’s lacrosse senior
Tom Howley (Colonia, N.J.) was named Co-Offensive Performer of the Week after a 12-7 win over Hartwick. Against the Hawks, Howley scored a career-high three goals assisted on two other goals for a five-point performance. The 20
th-ranked Thoroughbreds are now 2-0 and host Western Connecticut State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 13.
Women’s tennis junior
Rachel Loeb (Greenwood Village, Colo.) received Performer of the Week and
Nataly Mendoza (San Francisco, Calif.) picked up Rookie of the Week honors. Loeb went 2-0 in number two singles and 2-0 in number three doubles, while Mendoza was also undefeated, going 2-0 at number three singles and 2-0 at number one doubles in wins over William Smith and Ithaca. Tennis is at Connecticut College on Sunday, March 14.
Baseball opened up their season with a split at Stevens Tech as
Brian Lowry (West Hartford, Conn.) earned Performer of the Week,
Spencer Marcus (Scarsdale, N.Y.) was named Co-Pitcher of the Week and
Leejay Pollacchi (Porter Corners, N.Y.) received Rookie of the Week. Lowry went 4-4 with a HBP in the doubleheader, including going 3-3 with a run, RBI and two stolen bases in the game two victory. Marcus picked up the win for the Thoroughbreds, allowing one run on four hits in five innings while striking out two and walking one. Pollacchi began his collegiate career going 2-6 with two runs and two stolen bases and also had an outfield assist. Skidmore will take on Muskingum on Saturday, March 13 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
