Cape Cod, Mass. – The ECAC announced that 65 ice hockey players from nine teams have earned ECAC Men’s East All-Academic Team honors. Skidmore College led the way, with 11 student-athletes earning the honor for their outstanding work in the classroom.
To be named to the All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have competed in at least one-half of his team’s contests during the current season (a goaltender must have played at least 33 percent of his team’s minutes).
Representing the Thoroughbreds are seniors Matt Czerkowicz (Blackstone, Mass.), Tim Daley (Wilton, N.Y.), Charlie Moroni (North Providence, R.I.), Chris Webb (Holliston, Mass.), juniors Joe Melnyk (Rotterdam, N.Y.), Hunter Thayer (Shelburne, Vt.) and sophomores Colin Bessey (Montclair, N.J.), Tyler Doremus (Aspen, Colo.), Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass.), Jack Walsh (North Reading, Mass.) and Andrew Ross (McKinney, Texas).
Skidmore finished the season with a 9-16-2 overall record, falling to Babson in the ECAC Men’s East semifinals.
