Three Thoroughbreds earn All-American honors



Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – On Tuesday, Skidmore College men's lacrosse players Scott Grillo, Cory Barkoff and Matt Levesque received United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III All-American honors.
 
Grillo (Wellesley, Mass.) and Barkoff (Woodbury, N.Y.) were also selected to play in the 2010 Lax World/USILA North/South game at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 28 at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland.
 
Grillo was named Second Team All-American after leading the Thoroughbreds with 25 caused turnovers and ranking second with 63 ground balls. The 2010 Liberty League Player of the Year anchored a Skidmore defense which allowed 16 man-up goals, killing off 79.7% of opponents' man-up opportunities, ranking 23rd nationally.
 
Levesque
Barkoff and Levesque (Duxbury, Mass.) each earned All-American Honorable Mention. Barkoff led the league with 62 points, 29 assists and ranked second with 33 goals and was a unanimous First Team All-Liberty League selection.
 
Levesque earned his second All-American selection after posting 23 goals and six assists in 13 games this season. He was an All-Liberty League First Team selection and led the league with seven man-up goals.
 
Skidmore finished the 2010 season with a 9-6 overall record, falling to 13th ranked Rensselaer in the Liberty League Championship.
