Centerville, Mass.-- Skidmore College baseball coach Ron Plourde was selected 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference Upstate New York Baseball Coach of the Year.

Plourde led the Thoroughbreds to the Liberty League Championship and the program’s third NCAA Division III Tournament.

Skidmore set a program win record, finishing 30-15. The Thoroughbreds went 3-0 to win the Liberty League Tournament, beating top-seed Rochester once and Clarkson twice. The team a pair of one-run games in the NCAA tournament, 1-0 to Keene State and 7-6 to Castleton State.

Skidmore’s pitching staff ranked among the nation’s best. The Thoroughbreds led the nation in hits allowed per game (7.61) and ranked second in Earned Run Average (2.88).

The honor is the second of the year for Plourde who along with his assistants were selected 2010 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year.

After 12 seasons, Plourde is Skidmore’s all-time win leader with a 231-235 record, including four league championships.
