Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College volleyball team completed the perfect weekend, beating Baruch and New Paltz to claim the Skidmore Invitational Tournament championship.
The Thorougbhbreds have won 10 straight and 14 of 15 to take a 25-8 record into next weekend's Liberty League championship tourmnament at Clarkson.
Skidmore came from behind to beat New Paltz 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-17, 15-4) to win the tournament. Tournament MVP
Kelley Vershbow had 20 kills, 15 digs, two aces and two blocks to lead the Thoroughbreds. Teammate Corrine Palmer also made the All-Tournament team with 17 kills and five blocks (one solo) against New Paltz.
Also on the All-Tournament team were Melinda Santiago (Baruch), Melinda DiGiovanna (New Paltz), Carrie Hack (New Paltz), Theresa Lilly (Plattsburgh), and Eve Richards (Union).

Skidmore rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat league rival Union, 3-2 in the opening match of the 2011 Skidmore Invitational.
Kelley Vershbow led the way for the Thoroughbreds, recording a match-high 22 kills to go along with eight digs and two blocks.
Corinne Palmer added 21 kills and five blocks, while
Elise Finnerty finished with 16 kills and two blocks and
Mallory Mendelsohn had 62 assists.
Carolyn Bottelier had a team-high 23 digs and three service aces and
Sam Friedman added 22 digs.
Casey Tepper and Eve Richards recorded double-doubles for the Dutchwomen. Richards tallied 19 kills, 18 digs and six blocks, while Tepper finished with 18 kills and 18 digs. Mackenzie Westfall also had a double-double, recording 58 assists and 10 digs. Nora Wood had a match-high seven blocks, while Claire Kokoska and Mary Foley each added six.

New Paltz 3, Plattsburgh 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19)
Carrie Hack tallied a team-high 17 digs and Dana Vosilla added 11 kills to lead the Hawks. Marissa King chipped in with 22 assists and Melinda DiGiovanna finished seven kills.
For the Cardinals, Theresa Lilly had 15 digs to go along with four kills, two total blocks and a service ace. Rosi Cummings added 12 digs and eight kills, while Kayla Nason had 21 assists and Abby Mell recorded three total blocks.
Baruch 3, Union 1 (25-18, 13-25, 25-20, 26-24)
For the Dutchwomen, Casey Tepper tallied a double-double with 19 kills and 18 digs. Eve Richards recorded 10 kills, while Marissa Vollmer had 16 digs and Mackenzie Westfall finished with 39 assists.
