Skidmore set to host National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – Skidmore College is set to host its 6th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 4.

With the event, Skidmore aims to raise awareness of women's athletics on the Skidmore College campus and in the community through celebrating the achievements of girls and women in sport, expose girls and women to various sports opportunities and encourage their participation in sport and celebrate 40 years of Title IX and 26 years of NGWSD.

Saturday's activities will feature sports clinics for girls in grades 3 through 8, lunch with Skidmore's student-athletes, pictures with the Thoroughbred mascot and free give-aways.  The official program ends at 1 p.m., but parents are encouraged to take their children to the Skidmore women's swimming & diving meet at 1 p.m.  All are free and open to the public. The schedule is as follows:

9:30 a.m.
Registration for sports clinics in field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball in the Williamson Sports Center.  All clinics will begin at 10 a.m.

12:15 p.m.
After the clinics, all will join together for a lunch with Skidmore College student-athletes in the Dance Gym. Children will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Thoroughbred mascot and receive free give-aways.
