Amherst, Mass. – The Skidmore College women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA second round after a dominating 5-0 win over Simmons in the opening round, Friday at Amherst College.
The 17
th-ranked Thoroughbreds dropped just one game in doubles to get out to a 3-0 lead. The first doubles team of
Nataly Mendoza and
Lee Ford were 8-0 winners along with the third doubles team of
Robyn Baird and
Alex Smith, while the second team of
Melissa Hirsch and
Tory Engros were 8-1 winners.
At singles, Mendoza was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at second singles before
Delaney Scollan clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win at sixth singles.
Skidmore will face off against #25 TCNJ, tomorrow at noon.
