Indianapolis, Ind.-- As expected, the Skidmore College men's tennis team received its NCAA Championship invitation Monday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds will be playing in their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
Skidmore (11-6), ranked 22nd nationally, has a first round bye and will face #8 Trinity (Texas) (20-7) in the regional semifinal on May 11 at Bowdoin College. Bowdoin (13-7), ranked 10th, will play the winner of Baruch (15-2) and UMASS-Dartmouth (13-2) in the other semifinal. The regional final is May 12. Times are TBA.
The Thoroughbreds beat Trinity 5-4 on March 12 in California.
The tournament consists of 43 teams, playing a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at regional sites, May 11-13. Meredith College and the Town of Cary will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 21-23 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.. Student-athletes selected to the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 9.
