Skidmore women's tennis gets NCAA marching orders

Indianapolis, Ind.-- The Skidmore College women's tennis team received its sixth straight and 16th overall invitation to the NCAA Division III championships, Monday afternoon.
 
Fresh off their Liberty League championship, Skidmore (13-5) will play Simmons College (12-3) in a first round match on Friday at Amherst College.  The winner of that match goes on to play the winner of The College of N.J. (15-2) vs. Castleton (14-4) in the regional semifinal on Saturday.  The regional final is Sunday.  All times are TBA.
 
The Thoroughbreds are ranked 17th nationally, The College of New Jersey is 25th, while host Amherst is third.

The tournament consists of 49 teams,  playing a single-elimination tournament with the first, second and third rounds played at regional sites, May 11-13. Meredith College and the Town of Cary will host the team championships finals, which will be held May 21-23 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.. Student- athletes selected to the individual championships will be announced Wednesday, May 9.
 
Skidmore advanced to the NCAA second round last season.
