Nataly Mendoza is one of four players remaining in the ITA regionals single draw at William Smith College.
Mendoza will face off against Frances Tseng of Rochester on Monday in the semifinals of the singles draw. Earlier in the day, Mendoza defeated Jasmine Muniz-Cadorette of NYU 6-4, 4-0 in the round of 16 and Alison Wang of NYU 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
In other action, junior
Lee Ford beat Lindsay Kantor of Vassar in the round of 16 before falling to Ava Saghedi of Vassar in the quarterfinal.
Alex Smith,
Jordan Zola and
Robyn Baird all lost in the round of 16 for Skidmore, who had five of the final 16 individual players.
In doubles, defending champions Mendoza and Ford won 8-1 over RPI in the round of 16 before falling to Bourque and Tessitore of Stevens in the quarterfinal.
"It's been a pretty solid weekend for our team" said coach Curt Speerschneider. "We were the most represented team in the later rounds having players in five of the eight round of 16 matches. I think that says a lot about how strong our depth is this year. We lost some close ones that could've gone either way, but Nataly showed her experience as a senior and got through to the semifinals. She's playing very well and has a very good chance to get through these next two rounds to win it all."
