Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The 16th-ranked Skidmore College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback in overtime against St. Lawrence University, Saturday at Wachenheim Field.

The Thoroughbreds, who were handed their first home loss of the season, controlled play in the first half, outshooting the Saints 10-1. Skidmore pressed early and nearly went ahead in the 12th minute, but St. Lawrence goalkeeper Kelsey West caught
Christine Bellotti's powerful strike from the top of the box.

Bellotti came close again late in the first half, bending corner kick towards the far post that was parried away by West.

The second half proved to be more balanced with the teams exchanging scoring opportunities.

Skidmore goalkeeper
Gab Lawrence turned away a long-range effort from Julia Friesen and was quick off her line to intercept a dangerous cross from Laura Topf early in the second half.

Bellotti forced West into another difficult save in the 75th minute with a well-placed free kick from 25 yards.Â

St. Lawrence mounted one final attack late in regulation, but Lawrence was able to collect Nyassa LaClair's shot from the top of the box after a Saints restart.

After neither team could break the deadlock in regulation, Julia Friesen netted the game-winner 1:28 into overtime. Emily DePoy delivered a corner kick that was knocked down to Friesen, who buried a shot into the top corner.

Skidmore outshot St. Lawrence 16-8 and had a 6-2 advantage in corners. Lawrence stopped three shots, while West made five saves for the Saints.

The Thoroughbreds (10-2-2, 5-2 Liberty) can lock up the #2 seed in the Liberty League playoffs with a win in their final conference game of the season at RPI Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
