Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The 17th-ranked Skidmore College women's soccer team tied a program-high, extending its unbeaten streak to 11 games in a 1-0 win against Bard College, Tuesday at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds, who have not lost since Oct. 24, 2012, improve to 8-0-2 (3-0 Liberty), while the Raptors go to 4-7-1 (0-4 Liberty).
Gab Lawrence, who ranks sixth in the nation in save percentage and goals-against average, made three saves in goal for Skidmore, extending her shutout streak to 658:20.
The Thoroughbreds opened the game on the attack, but Raptors goalkeeper Kelsey O'Brien made two early saves, turning aside a strike from
Christine Bellotti and parrying
Morgan Governale's long-range effort over the bar.
Lawrence kept the game level in the 17th minute, guiding Abby Labrecque's shot over the bar and diving to her right to deny Gina Lewis's shot from 18 yards on the ensuing corner.
Jen Wargyga scored the game's lone goal in the 21st minute, slotting home a strike on a feed from
Arena Manning. Manning raced onto a perfectly placed ball from
Emily Saliterman and dribbled around O'Brien before sliding a pass to Wardyga, who finished into the empty net.
Labrecque nearly found the equaliser late in the second half, as she got behind the Skidmore defense, but Lawrence was quick off her line to break up the play and preserve the shutout.
The Thoroughbreds outshot the Raptors 20-3 and held a 7-1 advantage in corners. Kelsey O'Brien and Lily Harris split time in goal for Bard, making four and three saves respectively.
