Medunjanin leads Liberty League men's basketball award winners

TROY, N.Y. - Three members of the men's basketball team earned all-league recognition, as announced by the Liberty League on Thursday.

Aldin Medunjanin has been named Rookie of the Year and was selected to the first team all-league. Connor Merrill was named to the second team,  while Tanner Brooks was selected as an honorable mention.  Both Medunjanin and Brooks were selected to the all-rookie team.

A five time Rookie of the Week winner, Medunjanin led the Thoroughbreds in points per game (15.0) and rebounds (5.8), while his 4.9 assists per game ranked third in the conference.   The freshman guard also ranked third in free-throw percentage, shooting nearly 85 percent from the line.

Merrill's second team nod marks the second all-league recognition he has received, as he was tabbed to the all-rookie team last season.  The sophomore forward led the league with 69 blocked shots.  Merrill ranked second on the team in rebounds (5.4) while his 13.5 points per game ranked him third in team scoring.

Freshman Tanner Brooks received an honorable mention and was named to the all-rookie team after averaging 14.2 points per game in his first season.  Brooks ranked third in the league in steals per contest (2.5), while his 54 three-point field goals rank second in the conference.
