Thoroughbreds to face defending champion W & L in ITA second round

Greencastle, Ind.—The Skidmore College women's tennis team lost 8-1 to second seed Carnegie Mellon in the ITA Division III Women's Indoor Championship on Friday. 

The Thoroughbreds, ranked 16th nationally, will face defending ITA indoor champion and 7th ranked Washington & Lee in a consolation match at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Trinity upset Washington & Lee, 5-4.  

Melissa Hirsch had the Skidmore win at number three singles, beating Elizabeth Martin, 6-3, 7-6 (12-10).
