SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Kevin Altidor scored a power-play goal 23 seconds into overtime to lift St. Michael's College to a 3-2 win over Skidmore College in ECAC East men's hockey play, Friday night at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.
 
It was 10th overtime game of the season for the Thoroughbreds, one short of the NCAA Division III record of 11 set in 1998 by Colby College.
 
Skidmore drops to 7-9-7 overall and 3-7-6 in the East.  The Purple Knights are 6-15-1 and 3-11-1 in the East).
 
After killing off consecutive penalties, St. Michael's scored the lone first period goal at 17:48. Mike Schreiner tallied his first goal of the season off a rebound with Sam Torney credited with the assist.
 
Skidmore tied it early in the second. Dave Dupuis skated through two St. Michael's players before beating goalie Dave Donzanti for his third of the season at 1:12 from Vlad Gavrik and Daniel Morelli. The Purple Knights went back in front at 7:42 when Connor Mitchell's shot hit the far corner for his first career goal from Kevin Lampron.  
 
Dupuis tied it, 2-2, on a power-play goal at 4:03 of the third when his shot found its way through traffic. Anthony Bird and Marc Cibelli had the helpers.
 
In overtime, Altidor deflected a high Stephen Inman shot into the net for his team-high 13th goal of the season.  
 
St. Michael's was 1-3 on the power play, while the Skidmore went 1-7.
 
Jack McDonald stopped 26 shots in net for the Thoroughbreds, while Donzanti finished with 40 saves for the Purple Knights.
 
Skidmore hosts Norwich University on Saturday in its final regular season home game at 4 p.m. The Thoroughbreds will honor their senior class before the game.
